Description of the Flag

In Flags Through the Ages and across the World (Whitney Smith, 1975) [smi75b] pp. 304-341 ("Symbols in Politics") says that these are real flags and not only party emblems which may differ in colour when used as emblem or in a flag.  He records that the flag of the Northern Elements Progressive Union in Nigeria is a horizontal tricolor of blue-yellow-green with a yellow star in the lower fly.
